Meet Mira

Our bodies are indeed our temples, however, my story didn’t exactly start that way.

As a child, I can remember that living and eating healthy wasn’t something that we were accustomed to in our household.  Sure, we were vegetarians, however, our daily nutrition plan normally consisted of a diet of soda, fried foods, and those not-so-great carbs.

This was life for a very long time, but it all came to a head during my college years, when my father’s diet and stress finally caught up to him, causing him to suffer a massive stroke which left him paralyzed on one side of his body. That was nearly 20 years ago, and the effects of that traumatic experience still linger to this day.

My father’s stroke was a huge wakeup call for me, causing me to not only become much more aware of my and my family’s mortality, but also the incredible role that diet, exercise, and mindfulness play in the longevity of our lifespans. I started to notice the subtleties in every aspect of my life; how I was thinking, how I was feeling, and how I was sleeping.  What I was putting in my body affected all of these things, and through this realization I was dedicated to making a change.

Over the next two decades, what started as a personal interest then seeped into helping my loved ones, and inevitably blossomed into a diehard passion for helping others navigate their way through the nutrition jungle. In 2015, I became a certified Integrative Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) so that I could continue pursuing my interest in wellness and holistic living. For many years, I have considered myself a student of nutrition because I have been a lover of all things natural, so going to IIN set this passion on fire. When I transitioned from being a health care administrator to a health coach, I knew that I was on the path to finding what makes my heart smile.

I’ve learned first-hand the importance of moving your body and being mindful of what you put into it. Through my guidance and mentorship, I have helped many clients to set and accomplish goals in a way that is both empowering and exciting. With my coaching program, clients have been able to not only achieve weight loss, but increase their energy levels, improve their personal relationships, manage their stress, change their habits, and ultimately feel great in their own bodies.

Today, I reside in Washington DC with my husband and two favorite little people, my 6year old son and 4year old daughter. I am a lover of food, life, and simplicity, with a daily goal of living life with purpose and intention.

There’s the old adage that “it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle”; and I wholeheartedly agree that this is work, but the good news is that it doesn’t have to be hard work. So I invite you start your journey, do yourself the biggest favor, and change your “temple” for the better!

Thank You So Very Much,
– Mira Patel

Fad diets have a statistically low success rate simply because every person’s body is different. We promote personalized plans that are specific to your body’s needs, and more importantly, can be sustained as a lifestyle.
